What to do if the back comes off
Don't panic! It's bound to happen sooner or later. You see the metal clasps really aren't that great on their own. So what can you do? Reattach the back and wind on your film. You may have lost a shot or two due to exposing the film, but provided your film has been wound tightly, the rest should be just fine. Even if it's not you may be lucky enough to get a beautiful light leak. On the other hand you may be unlucky and end up with nothing.
How to avoid a ruined film
- Once you've loaded your film, take a rubber band or two and wrap them round your Holga
- When loading your film, make sure you use folded card underneath the spools so your film is wound under tension
- If your back does come off, put it back on as soon as possible, do not wind on until the back is firmly in place
The best protection for stopping your back coming off is to do the velcro mod.
